If ya want a "truck" on a budget. Look no further. I'm not the seller. Don't know the seller. Just seen it in my usual browsing. No towing worries. I tow with similar truck and the gas engine with 6sp Allison is no slouch.

I've tried for years to sell the wife on an idea of a class A, but she likes the idea of the truck and trailer better.
What's your budget? Don't count the Ram out yet. Older generation "Dodge Rams" had their share of gremlins, but the 4th gen Rams are pretty darned reliable and affordable and one heck of a workhorse. They were unpopular with me until I got one. I'm on my second one now (I upgraded from a 2500 to a 3500 DRW).

Might be worth test driving and consideration if it falls within your budget.
*Edit - I saw that you don't really want a diesel.*

I'm liking the 08+ Silverado, but is there any known issues with it, or any of the gassers, like there is with the 6.0/6.4 Ford diesels?
There have been a few complaints with the 6.0L Vortec through the years. I saw a few of them through the shop on occasion, but not an every day event.

The knock sensors have been known to get water in them and malfunction. Not that big of a deal except they're under the intake manifold. (Dad's 05 Yukon 5.3L just went through this. Not expensive, but a pain to replace)

The connector on the crankshaft sensor has issues on rare occasion with the wires pulling out of the connector.

I've seen a few that the intake manifold cracked on. Not an overly common issue though.

Some folks have complained with excessive oil consumption. Usually around 1 qt every couple thousand miles. Seems to be kind of hit or miss though.

All in all, it's probably a pretty reliable engine if it fits your bill. I wouldn't be too concerned with getting one. GM engines have a pretty good track record of lasting well into the 200k range if maintained properly.

The trailer won't be anything big, probably the 30-35ft range, but no bigger. It's just me, my wife, and our soon to be 6 year old, but have time to pick that out.
For the truck, we'll be wanting to stay under $15k, gas and srw seem like they'd be best. It'll be a daily driver, my commute is less than 5 miles (I think that disqualifies diesel) and snug parking spots (the 1500 ram I park next to is on the line on both sides)
Not that it matters, but I'm normally a Chevy guy, everyone I've ever known with Fords have had problems, but will consider them if it's the best way to go.
I tried doing some autotrader searches, but I don't even know where to begin to shop for a used truck for towing. I can obviously find the right model, but figuring out which had the best gvwr I'm lost.

Thanx in advance

Happy with my 2500 Duramax

2007 Chevy 2500 Twin cab, long bed
2008 Holiday Rambler Savoy 34 ft. Fifth Wheel
approx. 165,00 on truck
approx. 50,000 on trailer

We're running about 19,000 lbs. - full time.

We love our combo and would buy it again. We've seen 48 stays in 10 years and will be slowing down because of health issues and wanting to help more with our church.

If you love the 2007 Chevy 2500 you will be elated with the new(ish) trucks starting in 2011. In 2011 the Chevy 2500 got a new much stiffer frame. You may notice the frame on the 2007 flexes. Well the 2011 will not flex.

Since 2011 a lot more high strength steel is being used. This makes for a rock solid foundation to build the truck on.
