well i have been doin some thinkin and i came up with this..........

for what i have now.......
Hitch & rails $300
Mount kit $375
capture plate$150
total $825

Now that is a great price for well over $2K worth of hitch stuff.

But what I have now is everything you need to put it in a Chevy, or other veh with mount kit and im in it for $300

I figure i can sell it for $1500 no prob and that will pay for all of the Hijacker with install kit.

Im not saying i like either one one way or the other im just sayin i can get a brand new 18K hijacker basicly for $300 instead of spending $825 to have the pullrite super glide.

?????????????

just installed a sidewinder

i just put a sidewinder on my camper, new truck and didn't want any new dents. the auto slides were around 2 grand all together, could have got slider base only for about 400, but who wants to have to jump out in traffic if you think your going to hit the cab. found the sidewinder for less than 800. also saw that some manufacturers are offering it as an option now. i put it on myself, that took some figuring since it weighs about 150#. will be traveling next month and will see how it goes.

now yall take a look at this and report back........

I was watching the video of the Hijacker autoslide and noticed how high in the bed the actual hitch plate looked. It has 3 height adjustments and looks to be on the lowest one, bc the top of the outermost plate that the large hitch assembly bolts to is a good bit above the main body of the hitch.

look at page 1 drawing 1 and youll see what i mean...
http://www.hijacker.com/pages/fifthw...structions.pdf

Now, when they go to show you how to hook up to the hitch take a good look at the kingpin itself. it is not straight up and down but more tilted back. Then look at how the pinbox is bolted to the camper itself.
looks to me that the hitch is to high and they tried to adjust the pinbox all they could.

now watch this vid off of youtoube. It may have been an early prob that has been fixed, who knows. turn on sound.

I was not really suggesting a manual slider. But rather a regular, manual/automatic your choice. slider and add the air pin box for the cushioning. Depending on the trailer you choose. mine has an extended pin box, so a slider hitch would be unnecessary even with a short bed truck. Again, I would never place myself in a position that required a special anything when it comes to hitching. Never know when you might need to be towed or someone else needs a tow and then you could be stuck unable to help them. That was my point.
Don you are incorrect on not needing a slider just because you have an extended pin-box. I have an extended pin-box and yes you still need a slider. I have seen several trucks and 5vrs with alot of damage ($5k - $15K) worth to be exact. Those same people stated they would never put themselves in those same positions, but I guess they did and now they pay.
Personally I think the Pullrite Superglide is worth the money. Now as far as limiting yourself, Pullrite has now made a removable capture plate. This now allows me to tow other 5vrs that have the same brand of pin-box.
