Everything seems to be pointing to short and limp.
Try backing up one of these short trailers on a pioneered road with rocks and dirt NOT SMOOTH. The lumps and bumps want to turn the trailer for you, not the way you want to though. Yeah, it makes you look, All The Above.

Put a small hitch on front of your vehicle or mower and drive it in.

I've done the hitch on the front of the lawn tractor, and it works fine.

I also had an old snow blower, that I took the auger off, and made into a tow motor. It was great and I used it for several years to drive the small trailers around the yard.

When the boys were growing up we had Personal Watercraft for 8 years. While diffucult to back at first you learn. Heck she could even back down so long boat ramps that were fairly narrow. If you get in a bind stop pull up to straighten and start over.

Holy smokes is that trailer hard to back up. It is very sensitive to steering input. I can back a 37' 5th wheel easier than this tiny trailer...ugh.

I may have my wife film me backing this thing into the garage as a backing 'Fail.

I would not have guessed how difficult these small trailer are to back up. Probably similar to any single axle camper.

My hat goes off to anyone with a small trailer.
This is true of Semi trailers also. I drove truck and even placed second twice in the 48' Van category at The State Truck Driving Championships. Put a short semi trailer or even worse my SeaDoo behind me and I embarrass myself. [emoji3]

Thank God, I thought I was the only one! I too unhook my small utility trailer to move by hand instead of backing. Went from being able to back a fully loaded 3 horse slant to feeling like a fool.

Thanks, I feel better now.

You could buy a powered trailer hitch dolly.
