Hitch failure

I was in Roseville Chevy this morning to get my oil changed and they told me that there is a new recall on the standard hitch plate on my 2014 Silverado. They had to order a new one, but he said they can fracture. I pull my tractor on a trailer with a GVW of 7000 lbs. I was a little concerned to find this out. I don't know which years this involves. I have a 1/2 ton regular cab, 8 ft bed.

Always a good idea , when you buy a vehicle, from an individual or a non-manufacturer dealer, to register with the manufacturer , so recall notifications can come to you directly , even if you don't get your servicing done at the dealership; and add them to your change of address list if you move.

I have owned it since new and they said this is a new recall that has not been published yet. since I was in for my final complimentary oil change they would take care of it. He said there was another one coming too. He said the letter should be coming, they have my correct address.

The cure for this issue is a new 2017 F250 Super Duty. You will love the change with all the updates. Ford has the market cornered with these new models.

We have a fleet of GM pickups for work, one of our 2015's was affected by this recall. For some reason it has a 12,000 pound hitch on it and that is why its the only one (not a max tow, all others have 10K hitches). I guess the 10K hitches are ok, and the one 1/2 ton that we have that is a max tow package is also ok. Our fleet manager is checking all of them over as they come in, no visible signs of problems so far.
