I recently bought a f250 and previously owned a f150. My question is, I have an equalizing hitch with stabilization bars. My receiver on the f250 is 1 1/4 inches lower then the f150 and the hitch and everything was set for my f150. We went camping this weekend and the stabilization bars were extremely hard to get on and off. I didn't think the 1 1/4 inches would make much difference so I didn't change anything.
Here is my question. Would it be better to lower the location where the stabilization bars hook to the trailer. Or my equalizing hitch is angled down with a spacer on top, so i could adjust the hitch and get an inch or 2 of lift on the ball. I guess I'm not sure if that spacer is really necessary because I could also turn the equalizing hitch the other direction and get a lot more lift.
Are these stabilization bars usually pretty difficult to put on and off. I set things up for my f150 so I can't honestly say that everything was 100% correct, but I do know the stabilization bars went on with no a lot easier. I would have to use the tool once in awhile to apply the bars.

First thing to look at is if your trailer is level when hooked up.If so all is good.When I use to hook mine up I would latch the ball down and raise the trailer nose.When you raise the front of the trailer with the ball latched it makes the bars point up,and easier to put on the L brackets.You want some pressure on the bars to make them work.If you have "In your opinion" too much pressure on the bars,Then I would start adjusting.

You made a pretty drastic change in the tow vehicle. You need to do a set up from scratch. Get the instructions for the hitch out and head to a level lot area. Take along you wrenches and spend an hour getting it set correctly.
