My current rig (KZ Sportster 37ft FW)is almost 3400#'s under my GCWR, no problem with that. The one I'm thinking about buying (WW Full Throttle) is only about 800#'s below GCWR, I'm pretty sure I didn't leave anything out making the calculations. I'm not concerned about the truck pulling it, the Duramax can pull about anything, I'm concerned about the other essentials like being able to stop at the right time. Is 800#'s under too close to the GCWR for comfort?

If you could get the rig with hydraulic disc brakes, it'd give you a better braking system for that much weight.

My Rig is 700# under the GCVWR, and like Hitchhiker says, I have hydraulic disc brakes, which are worth their weight in gold. I have 195,000 miles and have gone through two sets of disc brakes on the front and one set on the rear, but the real diamond is "exhaust Brakes". They will save you wear and tear on your brakes, and protect their longevity, just make sure to use them while not towing also.

Hello Rd_King, and welcome to the irv2.com family!
To begin the process of determining how much weight your truck can handle safely you first must know how much each axle weighs when your truck is fully loaded- ready to go camping. Always use the GVW of the trailer when using a weight calculator. Note the 20% safety margin used. It is universal to RV towing.
