Dunner, In the last three yrs or so most TT with a slide has a hitch height of 21 to23 inches. I agree 18 was the norm for a long time but the manufacturers have raised the frame height considerably. Horizonchase, the ball size on your 28' Layton will be 2 5/16 that is the norm for most TT unless it is a "lite" or a hybrid, usually unter 21'.

My `07, 20' enclosed it right at 18". Didn't know they changed. Good to know. Thx.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to this. My wife and I bought a Coachman Catalina. The fellow I bought it from had a Ford F250, and I have a Ford F150. He threw in the hitch as part of the deal so I am good to go!
