I guess you just pray for them....
Visited with some friends yesterday that were packing up and heading out the next morning from central Texas to Albuquerque on their first ever RV trip. They plan on staying out there for 5 months.
The trailer.. late 80's 34 ft Holiday Rambler pulled out of a pasture in fairly decent shape after sitting for over a decade. They spent a month de-RAT-icating it, cleaning inside and out and refurbing all the gnawed up wiring and plumbing to get everything back in working order. Best move they made was to put an all new set of correctly rated tires on for the trip.
The truck took some prep too at the dealer to get all the relays and connections made to put the trailer plug in working order for the lights. I asked if he had any trouble with the installation of the trailer brake controller in today's "plug and play" enviroment... He said he didn't put one in as he ran short on money before getting to that point. I gently tried to stress the importance that a controller might play when towing something that's larger and heavier than your tow vehicle even before you pack (and pack and pack) all the gear in for a long stay. He promised to be careful..
The tow vehicle..... 2010 Nissan Titan...
I just hope they took the flatland route and make it in one piece.
