I think it's dead!!!

This week end started out GREAT, early out on Friday, nice weather, but then the tranny ate it self, it made same really bad sounds and killed the engine. was able to get it restarted but no forward and no rev gears and plucked out 3-4 qts. of fluid.

Let me put it this way:::: You used the right smiley.

Yup, that sure describes a car I once had and ... Well, Sounds like you don't need my help in figuring out the problem.. Just a loan officer.

You should be able to get a rebuilt Allison tranny for about $3k.

Be hard to get an Allison for a Ford? Might give ATS a call, they rebuild them to bullet-proof status.

Yep, ATS, Suncoast, and a few others advertise "Tell us how much HP you want it to withstand and we'll build it". Of course this means $$$$.

If it's a '97 and if it has the E4OD - you're just joining the ranks of satisfied owners with the piece of junk as supplied by Ford. They can be made to $urvive, but since it appears to be 13 years old, it was past due. $$$

(Yep - had one. I don't have it any longer)

Well it is all put back together, and what a differance a new tranny makes. The shop that did the rebuild said that they had not seen one that bad in some time. They put in a 5 star tripple disk converter and all new cluches a new front pump and value body. All with a good warrenty for 2245.00.
