Is a Airlift worth the Money?
Hi all, I'm towing a 33' Fleetwood ToyBox, Sometimes its loaded with a Boat going to the lake, Sometimes it loaded with a 4 seater Artic cat going to the dunes. I'm pulling it with a 2014 F-250 with the 6.2L gas Engine. The TH is heavy when loaded with Fuel, Water and the toy of the weekend, the rear of the Ford does squat a bit. I'm thinking about ordering a airlift system to help with the leveling of the truck but was curious if I will get anything other than a level truck out of the air lift? Will it help with the pull of the TH or perhaps help with fuel mileage? You can guess the fuel mileage pulling that much weight with a gas engine. lol.

The F250's sag quite a bit. I used the air bags to restore the height and that is their purpose. Nothing else will change except the ride will improve a small amount, but only if you are currently bouncing off of the overload spring leaf.

Your headlights wont blind oncoming traffic if pulling at night.

All it will do is help level your truck out and improve the ride, maybe. Nothing else.

Towing heavy with a 2500 airbags are a must IMO. I've run them on two trucks and love them. They fix the squat but more importantly they just stiffen up the "hinge" between the truck and trailer. Much less rythmic bouncing over rough roads and just a more stable towing platform.
MPGs??? sorry..... no improvement.

Thanks for the info. They really are not that expensive and just help with the leveling and hopefully a better ride will probably be worth it. I have never run any but I have decided to get a set and try them out. Thanks.

I have bags on 3 of my vehicles. There are several good reasons to get bags on a tow vehicle and no negatives so long as you air down to 5 or so PSI when they are not needed.
Just use them to level out your vehicle to it's unloaded ride height and you'll be fine.

I just did an AirLift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate set on my 2011 F250 Diesel a few weeks ago. What a difference it makes. And you and others are correct, the F250 (2011 and up), do squat quite a lot with not a lot of weight on it. I'm towing a 34 1/2' Toy Hauler and running a 1500 lb W.D. hitch and I'm still getting some sag.....until I put the Airlift bags on. To me, it's well worth the time and money to install them as it levels the truck back up to pre-hitched height and also helps distribute the weight eqaully to the truck.

Agree, this has been my experience. The only pro is air can give precise levelling when static: but not under dynamic driving. In fact, air can introduce many problems. 1/ is reliability of components. 2/ is body roll. Without 1-way valves, air will move from side to side, thereby giving no resistance to roll. Good luck trying to install 1-way valves, and to install larger bags needed to take the full weight from roll.
I have had better experience with overload springs. Recently, I tried the new Timbren product. It's good, but not without its cons. The overall solution is a spring that gives variable resistance, and imho the Timbren is stepping into the right direction.
