Ok I am looking at a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LT 4x4 4dr Ext Cab. It has 6.0L V8, Auxiliary Engine Cooler, Auxiliary Transmission Fluid Cooler,Axle Ratio - 3.73, Solid Axle Rear Suspension. I know it is kind of difficult to determine if it can tow a trailer when I don't have actual weights. But, I want to get a TT that is between 22-28 feet long with at least 1 slide. Does anyone think that this truck can handle the weight of a trailer this size? I am having problems figuring out tow weights of trucks. Any help would be great. Thanks!!

If you are only looking at a 22-28ft TT a 2500 HD will tow it no problem. You still need to make sure your weight is good though.

A 2500hd will tow virtually any 22-28ft legally and without a power problem. IMO it will tow virtually ANY TT without much of a problem.

The typical truck weight of a 3/4 ton is approx. 7,500 lbs. That extra weight vs a 1/2 ton truck that weighs 5,500 lbs. will help control a TT.

I would even say buy the trailer 1st. If you find a 22' trailer you like then you could tow it with just a little 1/2 ton truck.

But a general rule - for a towing a 3/4 ton truck will always be better than a 1/2 ton truck.

There's very few TT's that a 3/4 ton can't tow. It's probably the best truck for towing midsize TT's. I own a diesel 3/4 ton and I have yet to see a TT I can't tow.
Now 5th wheels are another story.

Your 2010 Silverado 2500 6.0 with 3.73 gearing is rated for 10k plus, with 4.10 gears 12k plus.

Thanks everyone. I am overly concerned about weight. There were a few mishaps when I was a child and my dad really didn't pay attention to that detail. So I guess being super cautious.

If you could swing a 2011 instead of the 2010 there is a new stiffer frame under the 2011. In 2011 all three (Ford, Chevy, Ram) improved their trucks. Look at the frame between the 2010 vs 2011.
