Back ~17 years ago I had gotten laid off. On a whim I went to apply at an RV dealership. I have an engineering background. Talking the manage I commented that I could help people understand the limits of their vehicle could safely tow. He immediately told me it was "our" jobs to tell people what they could tow but sell them what they wanted to tow.

Needless to say I didn't get the job.

Just got back from a 6500 mile trip around the country. The number on overloaded 1500 and 2500 trucks towing 5th wheels was rediculous.

The salesman says "sure you should have 6+" of clearance, but many people get by with less".

Short bed 2500 Chevy, 40' Trilogy 5th, 20' Featherlite trailer with 2 scooters and a 1000 Polaris RZR.

This was last years picture. He is here again this year, same rig, but this fall going to a DRW truck.

2012 Ram 3500 Laramie, DRW, 8' box, B&W Companion 2014 Montana 3150RL, with all the stuff.

Agree 100%. Just got back from a week long trip. I would say an easy 70% were overloaded.

But as earlier said, they'll say it pulls just fine!
