I hear/see Mike Rowe and all I can think of is him crawling around in muck

I hear/see Howie Long and all I can think of is Terry Bradshaw

I hear/see Sam Elliott and all I can think of is Tombstone

Commercials don't have an impact on my buying
GF & I just sit back critique/laugh and then shake our heads "This people get paid for coming up with this ?"

Sad that these guys use their celebrity status to flog commercial items. They are getting paid to read a script.

Not much more class than Lisa Rinna and Depends.

Ouch! This is what actors do... Their voices and ability to say something without error and lots of ah, um, etc. is why they are doing these. Also their recognizable face and or sound of their voice. Yes they are getting paid--it is their lively hood. How does it feel if the same was said about you--that it is sad you do/did your job to "flog" whatever it is you do/did and got paid to do it.
If they were doing this for a product that knowingly did harm or was untrue, then I would take issue with what they were doing.

You are the kind of person the manufacturers are looking for, all they want is your money, they dont care what they sell you.

Yup - I sold a product and trained people in it's use in the last 10 years of my career. That was after 30 years of working in the field and being considered an authority on the subject. Today after being retired for 12 years I am still approached for advice in my field of expertise.

While I agree they do not say anything untrue, they do talk about towing capacity and fuel economy without referring the disclaimers that are in the printed material. I think it is misleading because as you pointed out they are very good at talking and many take them at their word because we admire their celebrity status.

Too bad the vehicle industry did not have to make the disclaimers that drug advertising has to make.

For me it was the viagra commercial, the one the guy is pulling a horse trailer with a square body dodge...gets stuck and hooks up a horse to pull himself out.

Hey...the hoof beat is louder than the heartbeat, but a Ram is a bad animule...butting heads and living up atop mountains and what not living where most men won't go. Yup it was the animule that did it for me.

Of course Meranda Lambert is doing ram commercials now as well

When you think about a truck look at what engine all the big class A motorhomes use. It is a Cummings. Have you ever a big truck with a Ford or Chevy in it? The body is fluff for the eye. What I look for is something that truckers use because it will last and do the job. Never listen to a commercial even one with beautiful women in it.

My vote would be Mike Rowe.
Funny isn't it? Ya start a thread with a humorous/entertaining slant, and it devolves into a pi$$ing match.

Oh well...
