We do about 8mpg when I'm driving - that's usually 70mph+. The GF sits right at 66mph indicated (1800rpm) and typically gets more like 9mpg. I think we hit 10mpg once. We've also seen 7 more the once....depends of where ya are....

Edit - this is all manually calculated

I don't usually worry about calculating mileage, but my dad was interested so I did it a few trips. It's about 220 miles from home to Myrtle Beach and I get 12-12.5.

My brother has a 2016 Ford SCLWB 6.7 pulling a 41 1/2' Forest River. He told me that on his first trip he got 17.5 mpg. I said he couldn't have. He said that was what he got after he set up and was just sight seeing. Can't argue with that! Personally he could care less about the mileage, the travel it the important thing.

2002 Cummins 2500 4.10 auto

I've got a 2002 Dodge 2500 ext cab short bed auto 4.10 w a FASS stock replacement and 285 BFG TAs and 160k. It's so tight the oil stays clear enough to read through for about three thousand miles and even at five k it's still not black, but the trans is getting weak.

I got exactly 10mpg from Vegas to Beaver Utah Friday in tow haul mode all the way doing about 2500 rpm at about 65 mph, my speed is not corrected and I run about four mph fast at 60 so I actually want about 8% more miles, so close to 10.5 actual I guess.

I got between 9.5 and 10.5 regularly with the stock size tires going to Seattle and back even when I tried running it on the flats out of tow haul mode. Nowadays I just put it in th and rev it, redline isn't till about thirty sic hundred 😏

All my calcs are hand. Basically I get ten mpg towing whether in tow haul mode or not, on the flat or straight up a mountain, and that includes a very scary tank in six degrees running from an ice storm and a few trips in triple digits Nevada temps..

I get about 16.5 mixed driving, probably a true 17 w the larger tires, and can eke out about 18.5 on very long flat stretches at about sixty or so.

I guess the guys that get 24 w these have the optional 2.50 axle 😋

My electronic thing SAYS up to about 25 when I'm dead flat at about fifty five, but by the time I pull in and fill up it's back to about 18. Must be those jack rabbit starts w all that horsepower.

😎

So I was wrong. Had previously calculated it on the way home while filling up. What I didn't account for was the driving around without the camper while at the beach. This time it never left the campground. I filled up on the way home. 9.8 MPG by calculator.

I credit the mileage I'm getting to the replaced injection pump from Blue Chip Diesel, and 4' exhaust and a K/N air filter, 3:42 gears, and 63 mph.....these numbers were from a trip to and from Quartzsite, Arizona to here just recently.....and I went the high route thru Nevada.....My figures were hand calculated......the pump store also guarantees better mileage, but that cost was $2000 on an overnight bird. that trip is 1143 miles one way

Are we bragging or complaining here? It can be Luck of the draw?
Back in April we traveled from Williams AZ to Bakersfield CA. about 450 mi. we had reservations on both ends so laying over wasn’t really desirable. Well there was a strong wind out of the west that day steady 35 MPH gusting to 50 MPH mostly clear and sunny, welcome to the high desert. So we headed out early and set the cruise control on 64 MPH in AZ, a tad shy of 60 MPH in CA and headed west. Smooth un-eventful trip other than getting out of the cab at any stops would blow your skirt up over your head. We saw a possible haboob northeast of Barstow. Upon arrival in Bakersfield setting up I notice the little top hinged 120V. weatherproof duplex cover was missing near the coach entry door. It was just gone, at the hinge points, I remembered touching it before departure. Guess they’re not 100+ MPH rated. huh?
Well I found another weatherproof cover at The HD. It’s hinged in the front and it has little ears I can put a small hasp on. LOL, take note NASCAR
So I pull out the log book and fuel receipts. Sure enough, 5.7 MPG on that leg of the trip, sigh. There is no doubt in my mind that someone hauling heading in the opposite direction that day very well may have achieved 14-16 MPG. Like I said, Luck of the draw?

Keep the sun on your face and the wind at your rear.

Cool Fuel milage

You don't buy a RV for fuel milage. There are so many variables involved, having had VW bus, slide in campers, trailers and class A's. If I can get 10 mpg or better I a a Happy Camper. Someone is always going to do better & someone is going to get less? Enjoy the trip. gpscotty

Checking mpg's while RV'ing is like my golf game. Why ruin a good game by keeping score.

Never even think about it! No matter how good or bad, it's not even a factor in our traveling decision. My 2 tanks hold 117 gallons. So It seems great because I don't have refill all that often.
