Is anyone towing with the new 05 V10 and how do you like it? The new HP and torque ratings are pretty impressive.

I don't own one but I did drive an 2005 E-350 with the older version v-10 and was impressed with the power. I think I am going to order an E-350 Chateau this week with the v-10 and 4.10 rear axle.
Happy Holidays.

Thanks Ivory and Happy New Year. I just watched an ad video from Ford . They say 362 HP and 457 ft lb of torque. The ad claims that 80% of this torgue is made at 1000 RPM.That is 365 ft lb at 1000 RPM. Wow ! I know all three Diesels out there will make more at lower revs but for a gasser that is great. I have an 05 F350 4X4 Lariat CC SRW LB V10 on order and when it comes in I will change my name from Diesel Don to Diesel Gone. I'm not going to miss it either. Take care and all the best, Don

Don't know if this is applicable but in April I bought an '03 Ford E-350 Chateau van with the V-10 on Ebay of all places! Got a great deal and am VERY happy with it's towing capability. I tow a 6500 lb Sunnybrook so it's not near it's capacity but it does a great job.

I took delivery of a F250 SD this past weekend. It's a new '05, 4x4, crew cab Lariat with the new 3 valve V10 and 5 sp auto and 4.10 limited slip. A super duty with a gas engine are hard to find, almost rare with the V10. I don't know why so many have the diesel, but they must be the preferred motor. I can buy a lot of gas for the $5k they cost.
Max trailer towing capicty is 12,500 and 5th wheel towing is higher than that with my set-up. I wasn't aware of the new head design (3 valve vs only 2) until after I bought it. The five speed torqshift auto is a long overdue replacement for the E4OD and 4R100. I just wish my MH had this V10 and tranny instead of the early production low HP V10 and 4R100. I can't say how it pulls, but I'm sure it'll be a pleasure. On a truck forum I visit, the new set up is the talk and envy among earlier V10 Super Duty drivers. :>

Forgot to mention, it comes with a tranny temp gauge in the dash and intgrated trailer brake controller. I know the brake controller is new for '05, but not sure if the tranny temp gauge is a new addition.

Ned, the tranny temp gauge has been on the super duty for a couple years. Most reports I read on it say it is not very useful. That it goes from normal to hot rather abruptly, so many of the serious towing people on the diesel forum are adding a quality after market guage in order to track actual temps over a range. FWIW. Ned , you have to tell us how the truck feels. Is she nifty off the line, does she make you smile. I have a F350 4x4 CC lariat SRW LB V10 on order. They have improved the steering on the 05s so much that my new truck with a LB has the same turning radius as the 04 SB does now. Good luck with your new truck. I hope mine gets here soon. Don.

Hi Don,
Yes, it's very quick on the start - that is most noticable for me, and the smoothness of the tranny. But I'm comparying it to what I've been driving - an F150 with the 5.0 and E4OD....so that's not a good comparison. I have a friend with the F350 dually CC and PSD, and it takes a lotta room to turn it around.

Ned, that's a great looking truck you have there. I really like the wheels. Enjoy, Don.
