New Trucks From Workhorse, Rivian, and others (Ford 150) - All Electric

Would you buy one?

There are new all-electric pick-up trucks coming Right Now to the roads of North America....like:

Workhorse is taking reservations now...

Rivian is hitting the show circuit real hard...

Atlis is made in the USA:
Atlis Motor Vehicles - XT Pickup Truck

The Bison is possibly coming from a company in Canada:
Havelaar Canada | Bison

And Chevy, Ford and Tesla are talking about all-electric pick-ups.

Even with range reported to be over 400mi on a charge, I just don't really see these moving like the all-electric car's from brands like Nissan Leaf and Chevy's Bolt to Tesla's S, X or 3.

Opinions?

Safe travels

Depends...

Workhorse says MSRP will start around $50K
Rivian is talking like they will start in the $80K's

Would bet that Chevy and Ford will have an edge by modifications of a Silverado and F150.

Tesla, who has only done their prototype (to me, looks like their SUV Model X, with the rear roof removed) is saying the pick-up will follow the new "for the average Joe" Model3 production...no pricing released.

It's all on the Web for those interested.

Since these trucks will never have the capability to tow an 18,000lb 5th wheel I won’t be looking at them.

The Tesla looks a lot like my wife’s Subaru Baja. (Which she loves) she would probably buy it.

Tesla is also making a semi. Can 0-60 in 20sec pulling 80k. They might build a truck that could pull a 5er

That Workhorse is astoundingly ugly. It looks like they used the car designers from the original Total Recall movie.

Huh?...several of these website clearly list GCWR's well over 30,000lb...like Atlis says one model will be rated at 35,000lb - that's Class 6 MDT Truck territory:
Atlis Motor Vehicles - XT Pickup Truck

Like said above, with a Class 8 truck already commercially available from Tesla, weight capacity isn't an issue in electric vehicles.

Technically you could get plenty of torque with electric motors not so sure the battery capacity is where it needs to be yet? I’m guessing it will be several years before they are ready for prime time and then the cost will likely be prohibitive.

I am curious. I want at least one of my next vehicles to be electric. But leaning toward a Tesla S model or similar vehicle in the next few years.

I think there's about a 90% chance that Atlis is vaporware --that it never actually comes up for sale, or is nowhere near what was promised. If I'm wrong, I would actually consider buying one.

Yah. I don’t see a solid fundin trail for them. Rivian seems to have some substance.

I think Tesla may announce something in March. They are quite literally building a thousand cars a day right now. They are the leaders in EV production know how right now.and probably the best chance of getting a line up and running not to mention battery supply.

Rivian is closing a $700 Million round of funding. Hopefully these things get some legs under them.

Range is an issue - what they quote probably doesn't account for a load, hills or wind.
