We have a Ram1500 QC w/ HEMI towing a 20ft Ultralight w/ electric brakes. Have new brake box installed, but the brakes to trailer are not working. Aftermarket (Dodge) hitch & 7 pin.

Company that installed brake box says pins don't match, but wiring diagrams show they do. We did not have a connector from Dodge, brake box was wired under steering wheel area.

Does anyone know what the color wire is from the Dodge truck to the brake box should be for the brakes? I know from the trailer to the plug it's blue, but not sure if it's the same inside.

Same trailer we had with Trailblazer but new brake box and new to Dodge so unfamilar with wiring diagrams.

Thanks!

I don't have the color codes for the 3rd generation Dodge, but the 4 wires that come from the brake controller plug under the dash are:

1. +12VDC
2. -12VDC (ground)
3. brake light
4. trailer brake

The popular brake controllers will use either 3 or 4 of those wires. Controllers such as the Jordan Ultima 2020 don't use the brake light wire as it senses brake application via a control cable connected to the brake pedal arm.

Welcome to iRV2.com. We're glad you found us and look forward to seeing your posts in the future.
