To each his own, so I won't spoil all the good info from those that haven't tuned by saying if done correctly there is NO drawback to tuning an out of warranty vehicle... and someone saying they won't work on it if tuned ?!?! Wonder why someone would turn away business like that ?

Tuning to run more efficiently is one thing, tuning AND running it like a full on race car that COULD hurt your engine and certainly will mess with your mpg if you use up that increased hp...

I've had cars and trucks that ran as long as I had them tuned and not an issue....

but funny thing is, the current three I have are not tuned !
Not because I am afraid of it, just that they all three have enough as is.
the jeep is a toad that is mostly just dragged around,
the explorer sport is the wife's commuter that already has 365 twin turboed HP from the factory, and the Monaco @ 425 HP and 1250 lbft does quite well as is

Not always true as some play with the fuel injection timing which can alter the HP/torque without lowering fuel consumption.

My banks super stinger kit gives me more h.p. more torque 11% better fuel economy and lower e.g.t.'s..This is not just a chip but a package chip, included.B.T.W. ford dealer offered to install it for me.They said they installed some on ambulances.Whatever you choose, but install a e.g.t. gauge.

"lowering" should be raising.

I'd say spend the money on fuel.

Forget the chip. If you need a chip what you really need is a new truck. Yours works fine so forget the snake oil.

Don't want to mess up a good performing truck. Thank you all...
Tuning is vastly over rated. Let him tune his truck. Put your money into your maintenance intervals coming up. "13.5 mpg towing", can't touch that even with a good tailwind.

I thought you meant a reverse mortgage. I would say no to that.

With my truck, changed exhaust dia to 4", with muffler, and air filter to an K and N, added a pillar pod gauge setup that has a trans temp, a boost, and EGT gauge......better bang for the buck.......as with these old Cummins, the injection pump is the weak spot....so when it died at 173,000 miles, I replaced pump with one from Blue Chip Diesel.... mileage empty and towing, plus power, increased....no big injectors, no chip......at 63 mph towing, get 14.2 and empty at 70, get 21.4.....and I am a race car guy!
