You will be better off with a HDT especially if on a budget or....a newer dually with there massive payload and GCWR numbers.

An 08 Dodge is a newer truck in my book but it's still not as much truck compared to the DRW trucks built in the last 3 years. The new trucks have huge payload, towing numbers, and HP/TQ. Everything has been upgraded on them in the past few years. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME TRUCK.

I know the 08 flatbed you are looking at will pull that trailer, but there are better choices for that much weight.

I wouldn't think a Dodge had a 6-speed auto in '08, but I ain't a Dodge guy...

It's a manual... and I now doubt it has 4:10's. I have since found a 2006 GMC Duramax that I really liked but...
I will probably end up buying new so I can get a factory warranty and big trailer towing capability. Not sure which brand yet.

Yep they did with the cummins. The auto went from 4 speed to 6 speed when they went to the cummins ISB 6.7 litre in 2007.5 model.

Including the guy next door to me that did just that to his Dodge Cummins 3500 dually pickup. So just because it has a flat bed installed doesn't necessarily mean it's a chassis cab chassis and not a pickup chassis.

What makes you think it isn't a cab and chassis !!!
My bil has a 2014 3500 DRW Ram with the bed delete and a 11' haulers bed also however it has nothing to do with posting the correct website numbers...... which were all just guessing.

Many moons ago...

And they weren't abused to my knowledge...trucks used as wildland firefighting trucks, equipped to laden vehicle weight 1000 pounds under the GVWR. Can't say how both were driven other than the way I drove mine...and it was not ridden hard and put away wet. Chassis failure was on the front end frame rails where suspension attached. Trucks were five or six years old, and only used about 6 months out of the year. The one I was operating failed at about 30-40 mph on pavement, caused a minor loss of control. Other truck of similar vintage pulled from duty, inspected and found to have an imminent failure risk. Both trucks went to a salvage yard shortly thereafter...

Sort of irrelevant to today's trucks, but I still wouldn't own a Dodge, even if they changed the name. lol

PS. NONE of the Chevy/Ford/GMC trucks of similar size/usage/vintage in that fleet had the problems of these Dodge boy trucks. Just sayin'.

Coming from a haulers background pulling heavy GN trailers I have much worse personnel stories about a Ford or GM 3500/4500 size truck.

However I've been around long enough to know one or two incidents as you , or I , mention has no bearing on a Ford/GMC/Ram/Chevy trucks long term use for towing trailers.

All three make excellent trucks for this type of work or play.
