We tow a Crossroads Sunset Trail 291RK with a GVWR of 7600#. Its 33'5" long and 11'1" high. With the WDH setup and dialed in, the truck pulls the trailer like a dream. Plenty of power on hills. The comfort level behind the wheel is amazing. The 36 gallon tank makes long trips better with fewer stops. Over the Christmas holidays, we traveled with the camper slightly more than 400 miles without refueling.
I didn't even look at the other engine options as I knew the 3.5l was the only motor for my needs. The truck has tons of power. When not towing, it's very easy to find yourself "playing" with the throttle and be somewhere north of the posted speed limit (especially in sport mode). Fuel mileage is pretty good for a 4x4 at 20.6 average, mostly highway. The STX pkg adds enough creature comforts, electronics and styling without getting too luxurious to be a truck.
I would think you will have more than enough truck for your needs.

If you’re putting your foot in it at all and getting 20.6 mpg you must have only downhills where you live. I have lots of friends with twin turbo 3.5 ‘s that aren’t getting anywhere near that. You are indeed lucky.

A 3.5 Eco-Boost is too much fun to drive. I do not have one but on test drives I know I would only get 15 - 16 mpg because I like to smile. And putting your foot down on an Eco-Boost sure makes me smile.[emoji1]

It is very fun to drive. I usually run around in Eco mode for better mpgs, but when I want to play around some Sport mode creates a thrilling experience.
My mpgs are hovering around 21 - 22 with mostly highway travels in flat-earth east Texas. I'm running ethanol free, 93 octane fuel. My local station sells it at about .35 more per gallon than their 87 octane with 10% ethanol.
When I put my foot in it and "play" with the throttle, the mpgs slip to around 17. I just chalk that up to the cost to play.

Lol - I ran ethanol free gas in my already fuel efficient Nissan Altima and thought the gas Gage was broken because it was not moving.
That reminds me, I need ethanol free gas in my Seadoo next time I go for a long ride.
In the Altima ethanol free gas gives 1.5 mpg more.
Running ethanol free gas in the Eco-Boost should be illegal because it is too much fun.

I forgot to mention the payload for the new truck is 2050. I also have to move a 3 horse Hart aluminum trailer from Alabama to Charleston. I believe the empty weight is 4800 lbs.... I'll have about 500 lbs in boxes in the trailer.....excuse my ignorance, it doesn't have a load equalizing hitch, is it needed?

I would say no to needing a WD hitch on a small(ish) trailer. Try to have 10 to 15% tongue weight. I think a F-150 can tow this trailer easily.

Your truck probably does not have a payload of 2050 lbs. Check the yellow sticker on the truck. Probably doesn't matter for the trailers you are towing now, but it's good to know for sure if you ever want to tow a heavier trailer.

I bought almost the exact 2018 truck as the OP EXCEPT I have the non-turbo V-8. Slight difference in HP and torque from the tubo but not much. I figure less to go wrong and have to fix. Th V-8 is great! Passing from 55 mph to get around another vehicle I'll be doing 80 before I can get past the front car. Lots of power. Way more than my 2006 150 with the 5.4 V-8. Normal highway no tow at @65 mph I'm in the 22-23 mpg range. At 75-80 mph a solid 21+ mpg. I'll lose a little going to high altitude without the turbo but I'll give that up for the less complicated although I won't be working in this one myself as I did with the 2006.
Only items I have found is I feel the tranny shifts a little harsh at times and the "auto-start-stop" feature is a real PITA!!!!!! Its gotta go.

The truck should be here in about 3 weeks....I'll check when it arrives. I used the 2019 Ford literature available online and at the dealer.... I realize the chart says max payload and that is probably dependent on the options ordered. If it's way off the 2050 mark, I'll just order another truck but with the HDPP....

What is your payload rating?

Cliffy - stop/start is really a good thing. You want to burn gasoline without going anywhere???
If I am not moving why burn gasoline?
Embrace the technology dude. It is coming if we want it or not.
Oh, the 5.4 was a real dog of an engine compared to the 5.0 Coyote no doubt.

My payload is 2118 I have the middle tow package (7200) and the extended cab not the full 4 door.
The new V-8 rally scoots if I want to bury the foot feed.
Auto start/stop? No way, no how. Hate the shake every time it starts up. It idles so quiet I can't even hear it but then again my hearing is bad and I wouldn't hear a train next to me :-) But ain't no way I'm putting up with it on this rig. My wife has a new Nissan and the S/S you can't even feel it so that's OK.
Might have a jail break on the S/S buy getting into the computer. We'll see.
Its just like electric cars.
Not ready for prime time yet.
The power has to come from somewhere (right now dead dinos)
Range is a problem and heavy vehicles are a problem.
Battery power density can't compare in BTUs to dead dinos per gallon
The resale at battery life is dismal. Costs about what the car is worth.
What do you do with 1,000,000 dead car batteries that size?
If and only if you live and work in a big city and you're 10-15 miles each way I might try one but not with my situation now.
All things new are not always and advancement.

STX arrived today.... going through prep and will drive it home tomorrow... Max tow, trailer mirrors with 1792# payload should be adequate for my needs.
(3000-5000# max)

Advice - be careful with that gas pedal. Too much force will cause a permenant smile on your face.
Very nice looking truck BTW.[emoji106]
