PinBox "Slop"

The 5th wheel in my sig, came with a Demco GlideRide pinbox. Our previous 5th wheel had a solid pinbox. The truck has a B&W companion hitch and we never had any "Slop" issues with the previous coach.

Our present coach/pinbox can be felt running-in when slowing down and stopping. It can also be felt running-out, when taking off from a stop, or accelerating. Is this slop normal for the GlideRide? Does it sound like it needs new bushings?

I never hear any popping, or any noise from it at all. I can most certainly feel it though.

Thanks

Sorry, no experience with that pin box but it would bother me even if it was normal.

Since you have an Excel, you might try posting your question in the Owners Forum, as Demco is somewhat of a standard option on the Excels.

There has been several threads on the links and bad welds. Sounds like you have a linkage problem? Rockin' would be a good place to start.

Thanks Workshop.. I figured I would ask in the general forum, hoping more Demco owners would see it..

You are right though.. rockin' is the master of everything Excel.. If he hasn't experienced it, chances are it didn't happen...

Hey Gary,

We've talked this subject to death on the Excel Owners Forum. Here's one of the latest threads.

If you try to take off too fast or stop too fast you're gonna feel some slack which is normal, but on normal driving, it should feel seamless. You now can get just the bushing for the links and use a socket to knock out the old bushings out. The base plate shouldn't be loose and shaky with hand movement. HTHs. rockin'
