Problems with Andersen Ultimate 5th Aluminum?

I just picked up this setup off of Craigslist to tow 10,500lbs with a pin at 2000lbs. Someone on another forum mentioned that their RV dealer would not sell them the aluminum version because Andersen was having problems with this model. Any truth to this?

On another not, how are you locking your goose attach and pin attach? Looks like the same diameter as a hitch pin.

Just a comment and of course ; JMHO ; on the set up shown.
The goose neck ball placement in the truck appears to be in the optimum position, 2" ahead of rear axle center line, the unit will be moving the load behind the center line and actually lifting weight off the front axle of the truck.
That might make for very different handling while towing.
Why the manufacturer didn't just go straight up, is anybody's guess.

FWIW, I pull 19000 lbs with 4000 lb pin with no problems. I did see where one user had a problem and Andersen beefed up the square tube (poor description) that sits on top of the truck's goose ball. Just be sure to re-torque the top bolt to 50 ft-lbs at least once after your first tow. I like to re-check after maybe 10 miles after the first hookup.

I have that set up and like it a lot for various reasons, but to answer your question there are two bolts that insert into the adapter that aligns with the grooves on the king pin and then you tighten the set screws, make sure the adapter is set/aligned square with the pin box before tightening. I believe you will be very pleased with your purchase,if you have any questions on the hitch look Andersen manufacturing up on the web and give them a call they are super friendly people,Good luck!

It's that way for short bed trucks.

Currently on our second trip with it. My wife could not believe how easy it was to connet the trailer to the truck. Especially coming from a WD setup TT. I have talked to Andersen a few times and yes, they are awesome people.
