PullRite hitch failure

On Thanksgiving week we went to PA on the way up something did not feel right. After we got to PA and tryed to unhook I found that the hitch was in the rear most turning position and the truck was straight.

Turns out that the capture plate had spun on the pin box. After getting unhooked took 2 1/2 hours looking at the plate it was welded on one side but only tack welded on the other.

This allowed the plate to spin. Now there is damage to the hitch and pin box.

I assume you are talking about a Pullrite SuperGlide 5er hitch. (Pullrite makes other types of hitches too.)

Pullrite in known for taking care of their customers. If the hitch failed because of a defect in materiel or construction, then PullRite will fix it for you. Talk to them about it.

Have been dealing with them. They were going to send out a new plate but no show. Took it to a PullRite dealer to get a new plate and they pointed out the rest of the damage. Now they wanted more pix done a certain way. We have had to cancel 2 trips at this point.

I had a Pull Rite Super 5ther that all the bolts broke out of it. They were carriage and I replaced them with stainless. It was rated for the weight. I got rid of it.

PullRite is saying that the failure is due to lack of lubrication. Well send me out of good faith a hitch head and a capture plate if I pay shipping. Dose this look like lack of lubrication? This is bull good product but they won't stand behind what is a defect.

I wouldn't call them junk but I do believe they over rate them. Stay about 85% and they do good. Least that my take on experience with them.

Got the hitch head and capture plate. The hitch head is a reconditioned one. My old bolts had no rust this one dose.

I noted a lack of lubrication in the pictures, and I'm certainly no expert!

You could move the slider with one hand. A rag wiped off the lube and there is no rust or marks on the slider tubes. The plate had only 1 tack weld on one side the other side had a full weld.
