It's no different than saying Duramax, Allison, Powerstroke, Triton, Vortec, Cummins, or any other brand name.
It just rolls off the tongue better. LOL

But their other products still fall short.

Obviously you never owned one of the GM 350 & 6.2L diesels. Talk about junk!

My last Chrysler was a 76 Volare. It was a very nice bad car, far from the quality of the Valiant.
I can't afford a Cummins Ram but owned a great GM 6.2l that served well by not following GMs requests for repairs. The 6.5L was equally cheap and great by doing the same repairs methods.
Well my Ford. 6.0L is as good or better by following the Navistar method of operation.
I will never buy an other new truck from all 3 before knowing all the mistakes done in the years. For me my 10 year old truck has proven itself.

In 2015 is 'Hemi' a big deal? Are not all cylinders designed to provide the best combustion? 'Hemi' is a term from the 70's. An old design from the 70's still having marketing impact. Good for Ram.
I wonder how other manufacturers make powerful engines? Is the Cummins engines 'Hemi' designed. Does direct injection change the design of cylinders?
Hard to believe that the 'Hemi' design is still being used or possibly the design changed but Ram still uses the term. Anyone know if today's engines called 'Hemi' are in fact designed the same as back in the 1970's?

Those 'Volare' commercials were great...I am going to YouTube it. Man, that will bring back memories. No 'K' trucks that I remember. And back in the day anyone remember how much the trucks would flex? As a kid riding in the bed of the truck you could not put your fingers between the cab and the bed. Seems that gap would go from 2" to 1/2" as the truck would rattle, shake and roll down the road.
I also remember the trucks did not have much power either. Lol - heck, trucks used to cost much less than a car.
In our lives, (people over 55) even though we do not have cars that fly, trucks and cars have come a long way.

The hemi term represents hemispherical combustion chamber, started in the 50s, Chrysler trade marked the Hemi name in the 60s

I know, but changing the name to Ram was just so douchey, it had to be aimed at chest thumping young louts.
I think the company's most attractive vehicles are the Challenger and the Charger. And the Fiat 500 L.

This posting has meandered, and I didn't read through the 5 pages before me.
But just let me say that the 2015 F150 with the max towing package is in a class of its own--very close to a 3/4 ton capabilites. That package is not found on all dealer lots due to the high cost of that option @ $1,795 (last time I looked.)
The other manufacters are not even in the ballpark of the F150's tow ratings. Just go with it, haul your trailer and enjoy the day.

I must admit that "Hemi" does sound better than "Super Rat"!
And a Ram is still a Dodge in my eye...and there's absolutely nothing wrong about that! My bad experiences with Dodge trucks was many moons ago, I considered one recently, but opted for a variety of reasons for something else.
I'd not hesitate to recommend them, especially for someone who needs diesel power.
Cheers!

When I was surveying in the 70 we were issued Dodge crew cabs. The best thing you could say about them was "great power train". Anything to do with the body was crap, doors would not close, holes rusted in floorboards. But they ran well once you got them started.
Nowadays the quality of the body has been very much improved. Hemi's ??? For me the jury is out. I get better mileage towing with the 450 than our son does driving empty with his 1/2 ton hemi.

My friend at work bought one of the first 89 2500 Dodge with a Cummins engine and manual transmission.
Though he does not tow his 5th wheel now he still drives his new looking Dodge everyday. He has not even owned an other vehicle since. Never changed the color with many panel repairs, but he still smiles all the way to the bank with 25 plus mpg everyday.
I hope I can do the dame with manual F250 14 years from now. It's looking and working better then it did 8 years ago. So I'm going in the right direction.
