We had a 2015 ecodiesel, Laramie, so smooth on the road, and quiet. But sold it for the Cummins diesel 2500, needed the power to pull our quads and what not to the lake, and future fiver truck. Ecodiesel great as a commuter and grocery getter, or long trips not pulling anything with any weight.

They already have a diesel Ram 1500. The Eco-Diesel.
Is this yet a different diesel Ram 1500? If so, it does not make marketing sense.

Ram pumped out 2018 Ecodiesels into December. (Generation 1 engine in the 4th generation 1500 platform or body) Still readily available on dealer lots with 2019 “Classics” (4th gen body) at bargain pricing. But still with 100,000 mile warranty. Ram didn’t have the 2nd gen ED motor & 5th gen 1500 platform ready yet. The news blurb tells nothing new, the 2nd gen motor is going to be in the new 5th gen body as a 2020 in the fall of 2019.
I agree that the 1500 platform is generally too small for all but the lightest 5ers. With 3.92 gearing & modest tow tune mine towed 9,100 pound TT over 5 & 6 percent grades over 1,000 miles. Did 65 mph fine on the flats but only 52 mph up the longer steeper grades. Great for 7k or less but modestly powered for heavier unless geared and tuned. PPEI has a 300 HP 530 TQ tune but I’ve never towed with it. I’m sure you would need to monitor EGT on long steep climbs.

As said above, they have had them for awhile now. I test drove a couple and wasn't that impressed.
