Now, what about the dual mode auto-level rear air suspension system?

Didn't know it was offered as an option.

It is new and only on 3500's. I don't know how much extra cost though.

I am not sure it's available yet. But it may be. Supposed to be coming soon but I haven't heard the actual date of availability. According to the article I read it said the ride was "holy cow" amazing.

Lynne...have you ever weighed your trailer and, if so, how much does it weigh loaded to travel?

Just curious.

The ram dealer tells me we can have a gooseneck hitch factory installed on the new truck. I don't know anything about these hitches. Are they as easy to hook up to as a standard 5th wheel hitch? Is there an advantage to a gooseneck?

Saw a discussion on goosenecks and there are some serious problems using those with a fifth wheel.

We have the gooseneck/5th wheel prep. package on ours, there was no 5th wheel hitch on the market that did fit this setup when we bought it. We found the Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel hitch which attaches to the gooseneck ball in the truck box, best hitch ever and it only weighs 75#.
B&W also makes a 5th wheel hitch that attaches to the gooseneck ball, reviews are very positive too but it is three times as heavy and costs a lot more. I prefer the Andersen because when in a pinch I can quickly remove it even in a campground within 2 minutes and no help needed.
Chrysler is now offering an adapter frame that allows the installation of regular 5th wheel hitches.

You do not want to convert the pinbox into a gooseneck ever it will most certainly void the warranty on the trailer and can cause serious damage.

Thank you all for your help. We placed an order today for a 2014 ram 3500 diesel long bed dually with the aisin transmission. We are getting the tow prep that the b & w companion will hook right into. Almost missed the opportunity to order as they're about to stop production to get ready to make the 2015's. I sure do appreciate all your experience!

What diff. ratio are you getting?
We have the 3.42 in ours and find it very sufficient.
