RAN 3500 Shortbed vs Longbed

I'm about to order a 2016 Dodge RAM 3500 diesel with the AISIN Transmission. My problem is deciding if I could get used to a short bed version. I currently have a 2003 RAM 3500 long bed which I like, no need for an auto-slide hitch and I can carry stuff like a 6 foot ladder in the bed while my 5th wheel RV is hitched. Unfortunately the new RAM trucks are not only 5 inches higher but the long bed is also 10-11 inches longer then my current truck. My current truck barely fit in my driveway (HOA concerns) and I am concerned about the how the extra length will effect my ability to back into tight campsites and also the increased turning radius.

Does anyone have any experience going from a long bed to a short bed and did you regret the decision?

Thanks for you input

If the longbed is just too long be sure to get the puck system and go with the RVK 3600 B&W. Set it in the rear position and all should be good if your RV is a newer model.

Look into the rear air ride! Really is a nice option.

I pull GN and 5th wheel RV and equipment trailers with short and long bed trucks.
I currently have a long bed DRW chevy and a short bed Dodge. Both pull every trailer I have on the place including my 11200 lb 5th wheel rv and a triaxle GN stock trailer with 7k axles.

I hauled for a living with short and long bed trucks so I have no problems using either.

Now....my DRW long bed is a '98 chevy crew cab 4x4. Its too long for my garage at the house so it has to sit in the tractor shed. The shed has one side open so its cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
