Rear axle 5420 lbs

I'm 580 lbs under the 6000 lbs RAWR

Your 5er itch is not installed correctly. The center of the kingpin is behind the center of the rear axle, thus causing your front axle weight to decrease when you tie onto the 5er. That's definitely not a good. If your truck has an 8' bed, then you want the center of the kingpin to be about 4" in FRONT of the center of the rear axle. If you are trying to tow a 5er with a shorty bed, then the center of the kingpin should be about 2" in front of the center of the rear axle, and if that could result in cab to trailer contact on sharp turns, especially when backing into a jackknife, then you need a slider hitch.

With a shorty bed, at worst the kingpin should be centered directly over the rear axle, and NEVER behind the center of the rear axle.

And you're still overloaded. You do not get to pick and choose which weight ratings to ignore, even if some old truck drivers think you can. You should never exceed GVWR, GCWR or GAWR. You may be within the rGAWR of your truck, but you exceed the payload capacity of your truck because you exceed the GVWR of your truck. That means you exceed the weight limits of your suspension and brakes, and maybe the weight limits of your wheels and the frame of the truck. Even if the LEOs may not give you a ticket for being overloaded over the payload capacity of your tow vehicle, it's not safe for you and anyone else on the road with you.

Quote:
Trailer axle 9320
GVWR 19320 lbs
That's combined vehicle weight (CVW) of truck and trailer, not gross vehicle weight (GVW) of the truck. And if those numbers are correct, then your GVW is 10,000 pounds, so you exceed the GVWR of the truck by 1,000 pounds.

So something is wrong with your numbers.
Front axle 4220 lbs
Rear axle 5420 lbs
------------
9,840 GVW
============

GCW 19320
Trailer axle 9320
----------
10,000 GVW
==========

10,000 minus 9,840 = 160 pounds that disappeared. Where did it go if not in either the trailer axles or the axles of the tow vehicle? CAT scale rounding can account for 20 to 40 pounds of rounding error, but not 160 pounds.
