SAE J2807 - Standardized Trailer Tow Rating Procedure

SAE J2807 has been developed to standardize the various manufacturers' trailer tow rating processes. IMHO, a long overdue step in the right direction. See HERE.

Now we get to see how the manufactures can use their imagination and
"weasel-word" the NEW ratings.

More than being able to weasel word around them I would think the new specs would create a new game of one upmanship trying to exceed the SAE specs. I also think that any mfg that can't say they meet or exceed the performance specs would have a real tough time selling tow vehicles. This presumes that in order to put the SAE spec rating on you vehicle that ALL tests must pass not just one or two.

The next item up for standards is TT weights and somehow ensuring that tow vehicles and TTs are properly matched.
