Shocks for F250
Ok so I know I'm about to ask a rhetorical question but here goes. My 2000 F250 4x4 has about 87k on the factory shocks. If I were to change what brands have you guys used? I have added firestone airbags for towing but this would be mostly when I'm not hooked up and driving around town.

Bilstein seems to be very popular with the Ford guys, as well as the Rancho 9000 series shocks.
Hopefully someone else can provide first hand recommendations.

I would use "Bilstein" shocks and then the "Rancho 9000" series if you can't find Blisteins shocks to fit. I would contact an aftermarket company such as Summit Racing. Here is a link Summit Racing

I have bought Rancho 5000 or 9000 shocks for many years. They have a lifetime warranty, so when they begin to go soft I merely drive into the nearest Sears store and have them replaced. I chose Sears because of their nationwide network of stores, and my purchase information is always in their database.
87 thousand miles on the original shocks is quite rare, usually the factory shocks begin to fail the "second bounce" test at about 18-20K miles.

I put Billstein shocks on my truck at 10,000 miles-12 years later still have them on the truck.

I am on my 4th superduty, and shocks were always worn out sooner than 40000 miles. Have always replaced with Bilsteins and never had to worry about them even past 100k. The 'bounce' test ususally doesn't work with trucks, the springs are too stiff to let the truck move easily when the shocks are gone.

I just put Bilsteins on my 04 f250 with bags and love them... Like a whole different truck!!!

Bilsteins - most of the bump steer while empty is gone. It was so bad one town road had about a quarter mile where the truck at 40mph would end up anywhere but where I wanted it to be - like the oncoming lane. Fixed with the Bilsteins. Now, If I could get rid of the 48-52 mph rear end shake without having to do a Road Force balance, which doesn't always work for that Ford problem, I would be even happier.

So 4 wheel parts has a set of bilstein 5100 for $300. Does this seem like a good deal.

My reply on the 5100 shocks was incorrect ... I bought the BST HEAVY DUTY set on
www.shockwarehouse.com for 275.80... I have an 04 f250
