You won't be sorry you elected to go diesel
This is what I want to hear....

............. our motorhome currently has a diesel so I dont know why I even considered the gasser............ nothing against gassers in motorhomes as they are well matched to each coach..... but a heavy fifth wheel requires the appropriate truck.... which of course is powered by the diesel.... I just got a little excited about this fifth wheel........ hopefully they find us a truck soon,,, or we try to sell privately.

thanks for sharing and reassuring me that I made the right choice

They are now offering us a 2005 GMC diesel dually with 150000 kl ( approx 90 000 miles ) This truck will be a little more used then the other but it most likely can handle the weight..

I'll leave it to the Duramax experts to comment definitively, but isn't 2005 in the model year range for the LLY engine that had the overheating problem??

Yes, the 04-05 had overheating issues when towing. Look for an 06-07 or newer duramax you will love it.

PROBLEM DISCOVERED
The main source of the LLY defect is the turbocharger inlet mouthpiece. The mouthpiece had been redesigned by GM to squeeze into a smaller space. This size reduction compromised the mouthpiece aerodynamically with a significant air restriction caused by SHARP RIDGE in the elbow which results in a "narrow throat” and poor airflow.

I googled the overheating issue and found this....... does this look accurate? And thanks a million for pointing this out to me.

Could be, but my understanding was the radiator was smallish along with the fan, and the fix was to install an lbz radiator and fan. I do know it was nothing compared to the earlier injector issue.
