Tahoe the Fido

I have a new 2013 Chevy Tahoe with 3.42 gears and 5.3 v8. Pulling my 21 ft trailer lightly loaded (3800# drywt.) in flat land it is a dog. Only made one trip so far using tow mode and only 1000 miles on vehicle. I am going to take to dealer to put diagnostics on engine to see if it has a problem. Has anyone else had similiar problems? thanks for replys jim w

It has 3.42s of course it's gonna be a dog. It's a gas engine, non turbo, and high gearing. Not a good combo.

Yeah I know what you mean. I bought a 2009 Chevy 2500 crew cab with 6.0 liter gasser and 3.73 gears and it was a dog. I kept it 4 months and that was all I could stand. It would not even pull up a mole hill with cruise on not pulling anything without changing gears 5 times to get over it. Those 3.42 gears are really hurting you. They do that to try and get better mileage and it helps somewhat but towing power really suffers. That motor only has 315 HP which doesn't help either with that heavy of a vehicle. Maybe it will get better with more miles.
