Is it really considered a tow vehicle if it can only tow a series load for 100 miles????

"Tesla’s CEO has previously sought suggestions for features to add to the Tesla truck under development, and he revealed some planned features, like an option for 400 to 500 miles of range, Dual Motor all-wheel-drive powertrain with dynamic suspension, as well as “300,000 lbs of towing capacity.” Earlier this summer, he said that the Tesla Pickup truck will cost less than $50,000 and “be better than a Ford F150.”"
So it can tow 3 and 3/4 fully loaded Class 8 semi trucks, has a 400 mile range, and costs less than $50,000. You've got to be a few slices short of a pizza to believe that.

Well, I don’t think any one is expecting a tow rating greater than an F150’s. I think the 300,000 pound tow number is more along the lines of Fords F150 towing a train. Yah it can do it but I don’t think that implys a tow rating.

But it's written right there in your link. "300,000 lbs of towing capacity" is exactly what it says. You mean someone claiming a towing capacity number isn't actually the towing capacity? I can't believe you're calling the all-mighty Elon a liar. If he says he can do it, it's going to happen! That's the towing capacity! Who are you to argue with Elon (pbuh)!
On a more serious note, it can be optioned to make 400 to 500 miles, and we all know mileage estimates are high, so realistically, it can optioned for 400 miles. That means it's normal set up is less than 400 miles. Probably nominally 300 miles, because there's no point in getting the option if it only adds 50 miles. That makes it a realistic 250 miles, but let's go ahead and give it a full 300. Assuming you're carrying a load that is the same weight as the truck, you'll use twice the energy to do it, which cuts your range in half. That puts you at 150 miles from full charge to empty. If your trailer is heavier than your truck, like most people with 1/2 ton trucks, you won't get that far. With a full load like that, you're probably looking at 125ish miles full charge to empty, and that's being generous. We all know you can't actually drive until it's completely empty. You don't do that in any vehicle and EV trucks will be no different. You have to actually stop at a charger before you're empty to recharge, so yea, 100 miles between charges when towing is realistic based on that article you linked. And bear in mind that we're talking about a full charge, not a quick half hour charge.
So yea, Ike66 is probably right on the money in terms of real world towing with that truck. But, even if he, and I, are a off by a factor of 2, it'll have a 200 mile range. That's still not useful for towing like the people on this forum tow.

He is buying 100000 electric delivery trucks.

I would not doubt that there is a business relationship between Musk and Bezos. Bezos is likely getting a great deal and Musk gets exposure and a great real world test of the truck. As a delivery vehicle likely would not be towing just carrying and likely not at full GVWR.

I am thinking by 2025, yes just 5 years from now we will have more answers than we do today. There are thousands of smart engineers working on EV's. Just look, I just saw a video of a part of a Falcon 9 rocket land on a 'Drone Ship'. Oh, the Facon 9 rocket was launched to deploy 'Sky Net'...I mean internet satellites. We are living in a really incredible age! By 2025 we might even be on Mars.
By 2025 we will have Rivian, Tesla, Ford and GM electric trucks.
I know, I know no flying cars by 2025 which is a bummer as I saw flying cars on the cartoon 'Jetsons'.
I am thinking a baby born today will have a decision to make. Go with the flow, or join the resistance. For me, I am going with the flow.

Really doubt it, he is buying the trucks off Rivian, which is will probably be a big competitor to Tesla. If anything, Tesla stocks could fall.

Read the article. He is buying the trucks off Rivian, which has massive funding from Bezos and Ford. Nothing to do with Musk and will probably take some of Tesla's new truck sales.
