Tires - TV and Trailer

Just out of curiosity:

Do you think folks pay as much attention to the tow vehicle tires as they do their trailer tires?
Do they pay too much attention to their trailer's tires?
Do they check the heat of their tow vehicle tires and hubs?
Do they inspect the tow vehicle tires everyday?
Do they worry if the tow vehicle tires are filled with air or nitrogen?

Just food for thought.

I do.
I do.
I do, with my hand whenever I stop.
I do.
I don't. Atmospheric air is mostly nitrogen, so air is mostly OK, right?

On a recent trip out West I checked the temps of my TT tires, brakes, and hubs at every stop using one of those $20 inferred temp gauges. I feel as though it helped to monitor if anything was changing with the setup. Air temps were close to 100, so I felt it was important to monitor.

a failure or flat will put a STOP to your trip.

check "ALL" at every stop and pressures every morning.

I use AIR... why pay.

If I had junk tires on my truck or trailer I might worry. I don't so what I do is check my pressures before each trip. Don't obsess over bad tires, get rid of them.

I do!
In fact I run two sets of tires and rims on my truck (not at the same time). My summer towing tires are Nitto Dura Grappler; LT285/70R17 126R tires with Mickey Thompson Side Bitter II rims, I run the rear at 70PSI (3415 LBS) and the front at 50PSI (2755 LBS). My Winter tires are the stock size Michelin M/S2 with the stock rims a 45PSI rear and 60 PSI front.

Air pressure is checked monthly when not towing and at the start of every day when towing the 5er.

I keep a pretty good eye on my truck's tires because they're not cheap and they're mud tires so they have a tendency to go down hill fast if you neglect them. I keep close watch on air pressures and use a depth gauge to check wear. Hubs I'm not overly concerned about....they're sealed hubs so no bearings to adjust and hubs will almost always give you warning if they're going bad. I've already done both of mine once.
