The tag on the hitch is what the hitch is rated at, not what the truck is rated at. The hitch is an aftermarket item Nissan puts on the truck and has it's own rating independent of the truck. You need to look on the door sill or glove box door for the tire loading sticker which will confirm the cargo carrying capacity of your particular truck. It will say "Passengers and contents not to exceed xxx pounds". That is the number of people and cargo, including tongue weight of the trailer, that you are allowed to carry. Forget what the hitch or the manual says. The sticker says what is legal.
