I'll be soon receiving a new dually.
I'd like your comments on which tonneau cover you guys would recommend keeping in mind towing a 5ver. I'm partial to hard folders.

I had a hard, folding BakFlip on my last GMC dually. It got heavy toward the last fold so I always had to climb in the bed to fold it. This time I went with the BakFlip Revolver X2. It is a hard cover roll up that lets me just roll it back from outside the truck. I was worried about how much it would block my rear vision but I don't even notice it as I have plenty of rear window left above it. Of course, that is not an issue with the fifth wheel attached. Another good feature is the tail gate can be closed with it latched in place. So far I'm thinking I made a good choice.

Truxedo... rolls ups, but locks tight when you put it down. Thats the top of my list right now. Likely I'm installing a fuel cell with toolbox, so I'll have the version that goes behind the box.

I have an Extang tri-fold on an 8' bed. For the most part I like it. It sits a couple of inches high when folded. When backing on smooth pavement my trailer overhang has come within an inch of the cover. It would need to be removed if your terrain was uneven. It blocks the view of the hitch when hooking up so getting out is required more often. I have an expensive hitch and appreciate that the cover keeps it dry and out of sight. I have considered an auxiliary fuel tank but my cover doesn't allow it. I believe some of the new covers have an opening front section so you could have access to fill a tank. That is an option I would like to have.

I too like my Truxedo roll up soft cover. I had a BakFlip on my F150 and liked it but wouldn’t work well now on on my F350. I have a 60 gal fuel tank/toolbox combo up front so the roll-n-lock type won’t work. I carry a 3000w Yamaha gennie and it protrudes ~1” above the rails and also when headed to the desert for BD I carry two 35 gal barrels that protrude ~1” above so that eliminates the hard fold type. Different strokes. Just don’t box yourself into a corner.

Four two foot sections, opens on both ends. I keep my generators under the last one, and when I run them I just prop both ends open to allow airflow. Keeps them even quieter. Barely any water makes it under when closed - we're talking drips.

I have the GatorTrax on my 8 ft GMC Dually. I like the fact that I can still slide it closed over my Curt 5th Wheel Hitch. Can open and close tailgate with Tonneau Cover closed.

I initially had the Lund genesis Rollup Tonneau on my Dually. Loved it but the hot Texas sun made it difficult to roll/unroll without gloves in the summer.

When I got my 5er, I switched to Lund Genesis Elite Tri-Fold Tonneau. It is a keeper. I can open/close from the outside. Open it to Tow, close it otherwise.

I had them installed and closed for the past 8 yrs with no issues. (Truck stored uncovered). For me they have an incredible value.

Both versions are $300 on Amazon, Customer service and quality are fantastic.

Can't wait to hear how that turns out. I'm not fully deciding until I get my fuel cell / tool box combo, and I'm not deciding on that until my hitch is setup and I look at the clearances more carefully. Not to mention, they aren't cheap.

I have the Bakflip on my 2017 gmc short bed. I am happy with it and I am able to open or close the tail gate while the cover is closed. coming from an avalanche I am used to having enclosed storage. bought online and installed in about 30.
