My sister is planning on buying a 24' Coachmen, 1994 model. It's beautiful and she's really set on buying it. She doesn't have a tow vehicle yet, so she was asking me what to buy.

If it were me, I'd go with a full size truck, but she wants a small SUV, like a Trailblazer or Explorer.

Would she be fine with a small SUV? Or would she have to go full size SUV, like a Tahoe or Expedition? Or, would she need a full size truck?

I believe the TT had a GVW of 7000# and a hitch weight of around 500#

Also, the TT has an equalizer hitch. Would she need anti-sway, too? What about electric brakes?

Thanks for any info!

We have a 2002 Chevy TrailBlazer LT. If I recall correctly it has a tow capacity of 6600 lbs and a hitch weight of 350 lb.

This is the short wheelbase model (5 passenger), I'm not sure if the long wheelbase (7 passenger) has different ratings or not.

For that 24' Cocahman, she needs to for get the small SUV's and get a full sized truck. It is the old story of the tail wagging the dog.

A Tahoe will be pretty well loaded up by the time she getsthe truck and trailer loaded. Even with a Tahoe, with it's short wheelbase, she will need a god WD and sway control hitch. A minimum is the Reese Dual Cam.

Remember that towing is more than just weight. You have to be able to control and stop the trailer.
