Towing Length Limits

Caution if you come into Arizona. While triple towing is legal it must be done behind a 5th wheel. So it appears that your MH-Jeep-boat combo wouldn't work in AZ.

Most juridictions I am aware of require the first connection to be a 5 wheel.

Unforntunately I have more experience than I wish I did on this subject. I was recently ticketed for being 68 ft in Texas. I was aware that I was slightly over but had not ever come across anyon on any of the forums who had been ticketed. I had been towing double for about 5000 miles with no issue after being seen by many LOL. I was stop by a Texas trooper that took me to task. I was extremely polite and curtious but he would not here any of it. The ticket was only $160 but he would not allow me to continue until I corrected the situation. He eventuall agree to escort me to an RV park a few miles away to give me the chance to work out the delima.

We were on the way to Colorado with our 39 ft Lifestyle and a 10 open trailer that I pull with a Razor on it. With the F350 crew and long bed I was 68 ft. He ultimate calmed down a little and told me that he could not give me permission to continue. He said that assuming that I most likely would. The ticket was on Hwy 287 in Wichita Falls Texas. He said my options were to leave it on the road side, find a place to store it or have someone pick it up. I told him I was 400 mile from home.

We left out early the next morning and crossed into Oklahome and traveled some rough back roads to Colorado. Colorado is 70 ft so no issue there. It was quite the night mare. Bottom line is most LOL will not enforce the law but if you find one that does, he can ruin a vaction.

I am solving the issue by buying an Idaho Tote. (Approx $7000 later) With the Tote I will be 64 ft since the Razor will be loaded from the side not from the back. I guess it is worth it since the wife and I were very uncomfortable making our way home feeling like criminals all the way.

Try stopping 3 trla on a slick road quickly in a straight line or having a back up situation. You need a triple license certification plus brakes on all the trailers.
Let me know what state they let all these amaturers haul triples so l can make a wide berth.

I will add that towing doubles is also limited to a Tow Vehicle, 5er, and then Bumper Pull Trailer. No towing triples in California. Although towing triples is allowed in Nevada, I've only seen Commercial Trucks doing it.

90 feet long is too obvious. 25' over legal.

Once in a while, I will tow an equipment trailer with a 10 yard dump truck that will put me at 68'. Just looking at my set-up is very long.

If your going to tow into California, towing 2 bumper-pull trailers is not allowed. There must be a 5er in the middle of the set-up.

I don't know what states allow non-commercial double trailer rigs, but in OR, they park commercial triples in foul weather. They don't even leave the yard. Double trailers can be safe in foul weather, but it is much more important to have very well maintained equipment and the driver needs to have lots of towing experience.
