When asking a question it really helps to mention some details. What is the truck make, model and year for example.

You should be able to see down the side of the 5er on both sides when the unit is straight. Some trucks have extending mirrors that are wide enough, others require extentions.

I like to see the ground beside the wheels of the trailer when the mirror is in the normal position.

The farther out the mirrors are the smaller the blind spot behind the trailer will be. There is a practical limit to how far the mirrors can be "out" as they may have too much vibration to be of any rear viewing use.

What a great lookin hauler!

The mirror's on this ought to work...........the truck comes with them
Ok now, Ralph, what kind of a truck do you own now? Does it not have large mirror's on it now? Most of the time, if the truck can handle a trailer of any size, it will have the mirror's on it already.

The 96 f250 had 2 style mirrors. Sport witch snugged the door, and the aluminum bracket style. The bracket style or hangers they are called have a adapter that allows the bigger square mirror to fold out one extra time. It is really just a piece of aluminum flat bar with two holes drilled . But you can buy the adapter . From JCwhitney for sure. I use them on my 1994 f150 for towing small trailers.
The clip on adapters are for folks that want to stop and pick them off of the road when they blow off.
Hope this helps.. Jon

You might stop at your local Ford dealer and check with the parts department. Ask what is available to fit your truck.

Extend-A-Mirror

Your options are few with these mirrors.

There are lots of options. You have to install the size you are comfortable with as well as far enough out so you can see if any traffic is pulling out to pass or a long lineup is forming behind you.

Most automotive stores, dealers included, will have suitable options to fit your needs.
