Most of the big truck stops on the interstate have a certified automated truck (CAT) scale. Pull into the same place the big truck pull into for diesel fuel and you will probably see the CAT scale. Here's a locator for the main brand of CAT scales:
Should I disconnect my truck from the camper when on the scale or weigh them both together and subtract the weight of my truck from the combined weight?
Do not disconnect the trailer. You want the combined weights including the trailer. The CAT scale ticket will give you 4 weights:
1] front axle
2] rear axle
3] trailer axles
4] Combined truck and trailer
Add the weights on the front and rear axle and compare to the GVWR of your truck.
Compare the weight on the rear axle to the rGAWR of your truck.
Compare the weight on the trailer axles to the combined GAWR of the trailer.
Compare the combined weight on truck and trailer to the GCWR of the truck.
The one you're most likely to be overweight is the GVWR of the truck. On some trucks the rGAWR is also a weak sister and easy to overload.
