Towing utility trailer behind TT.
I have a 2015 Rockwood 2109s TT. Has any towed a small trailer behind their TT like a 10 ft utility trailer or similar? I have the 4 inch receiver box for the bumper but does it require any modifications to make it road safe? I will have a Polaris 1000 ATV (775lbs) in it. That way I could use the truck bed for cargo space. Thanx.

Not legal Not safe. TT hitch won't hold it anyway.

It's illegal in most states and provinces unless the RV trailer is a fifth-wheel or gooseneck trailer - not a "bumper-pull" TT.
If you do it anyway, then be sure to hook up the second trailer with a sway-control hitch. If the second trailer grosses less than 5,000 pounds when loaded, then you don't need a WD hitch on the second trailer, but you do need the sway control.
For several fyears, I towed a 10' utility trailer loaded with a gasoline-powered golf cart, 5500-watt generator, and gas for both, behind my 5er. So I learned right quick that when the front trailer does a bobble, the second trailer will do a huge sway. I fixed it with a simple sway bar like this one:
Eaz Lift sway bar

Take a look at your rear bumper mounting tabs--then think about betting that something worth a lot of money depending on those mounting tabs/welds/straps is gonna be there when you get where you are going.

Not many places that woul7d be legal. It is here in Sask as long as the lead has brakes and the total length does not exceed 75'. Most places the lead trailer must be a 5th wheel though.

As the others have said, one of the trailers must be a 5th wheel, which is the case here in AZ.

You shouldn't tow anything if literally using the rear bumper of a TT to mount the trailer ball. Instead, have a good welding shop install a receiver hitch that's bolted to - or welded onto - the frame of the TT. If the frame of the TT doesn't go far enough past the rear axle of the TT to mount a receiver rated for 500 pounds hitch weight, then the welding shop needs to fabricate an extension to the trailer frame so you will have enough frame strength to tow a small trailer on a receiver hitch.
My 5er frame had to be reinforced in the rear end to have a suitable place to mount the receiver hitch. I would not consider adding a receiver to my current ultra-lite TT - there's just not enough junk iron under the rear of the TT to install a suitable receiver hitch to drag a 3,000-pound trailer with 450 pounds tongue weight. So no second trailer behind the TT for me.

Just get a toy hauler and put the stuff that would be on the 10 foot trailer in it.

The first thing to do is forget what most here have said UNLESS they have knowledge of where you are and where you plan on going. Contact you local State Police and find out exactly what the laws are. Just because something is required one place doesn't mean it is required elsewhere. Do your own legwork and see what you can and cannot do.

I towed a 6x12 enclosed trlr behind my tt for 8 years and towed behind my 5th wheel before that. You will need a better hitch than just the bumper and you need to check in each state you plan to travel on legality. You will also need to likely shift some weight forward in the tt to offset the tongue weight of second trlr. All that said if you due your due diligance it is safe and legal in many places. Dont go by a trailer law site or info from anyone other than the state you plan to travel in.

Lots of opinions being expressed here. AS some have said contact your state (and other states your going through) the vehicles are registered in for legal issues.
In my state we can tow two bumper pull trailers if the tow vehicle is a 3/4 ton truck or larger. Right now the state has stopped enforcing the 3/4 ton thing as the code was written in the '70s. Now our legislature has to rewrite the code and state what exactly is a 3/4 ton truck.
I towed doubles with a 26' 5er/3400 lb bass boat and GN doubles. As Smoky says have a custom made receiver hitch fabed and I prefer welded to the trailers main frame rails and cross members.
Just take it easy and forget about keeping up with the inside lane flow. Tail whip is a issue with multiple trailers even with a 5th wheel set up or GN doubles. Bumper to bumper is worse.
