My personal feeling is that even with the 30' trailer you are pushing the limits of the 1/2 ton chassis. Yes, you may be be well within the tow ratings, but there is more to towing than just the weight ratings. You have to have enough truck to physically control the trailer.
Another issue is if you are exceeding the trucks GVWR or rear axle GAWR with a loaded truck and the tongue weight of the trailer.
Personally, I'd want a 3/4 ton truck for a 30' trailer...but that is my opinion.
