Towing with a 2018 Ford Expedition?

We bit the bullet today and traded our 2012 Expedition Limited, factory tow package and 5.4L V8 for a new '18 XLT model with the factory tow package & 3.6 V6 turbo-boost.
So the specific questions we have are:
a. Does the built in brake controller work? Or should we consider moving our P3 into our new Expedition? Or can we??
b. What kind of mileage are others actually getting?
One item that we would have liked is the 28 gal fuel tank that we had in our '12 Expedition, not the 23.3 our new one has. I may have to fill up a bit more often.
Anyone out there towing with an '18 Expy. we'd appreciate your comments.

The Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (ITBC) is included with the Heavy Duty Trailer Towing Package. It's a really good one, better than the P3. It's integrated with the vehicle's braking system, controlled by the main computer (PCM) and the ABS module. You'll love it, and after you have at least one long towing trip with it, you'll come back here and rave about it.

Depends. When towing a travel trailer across the plains and not exceeding any of Ford's weight limits - GVWR, GAWRs, GCWR, and keeping the cruising speed down to about 62-63 MPH, expect about 10 MPG. Speed up so those twin turbos open up, and MPG goes into the gutter. You'll love the power and torque of the 3.5L EcoBoost engine, but if you use that power to climb mountain passes or to keep up with traffic on the interstate while towing a travel trailer, you'll buy lots of gasoline.

I love the 3.5L EcoBoost engine in my 2012 F-150, and ordered a new 2019 F-150 with that engine. It's scheduled for delivery on Christmas Eve.

Thanks for the prompt reply SmokeyWren! We're looking forward to picking up our new Expedition. Not to happy about what you wrote about the gas mileage. Normally set the cruise control at 65 MPH and just sit back and relax. We were getting between 11.5 and 12 MPG in our 2012 Expedition.
And thanks for the info on the integrated brake controller too.
Anyone else out there towing with q 2029 Expedition??

If automakers did what RV mfrs did, that 2029 model might be available in 2026!
