I have 2007 2WD Limited DBL Cab and it is adequate for a 1/2 ton tow vehicle. Currently tow a 23ft trailer with a 7700 GVW.

I had one for a while, nice truck, nice ride. But VERY thirsty. I do better now with my F-150 six speed.

It's a very good half ton. Don't lose track of that. Moderate spring package for decent ride (a little jiggly with TRD option). The engine is very capable, but remember my first sentence. Our AF is about 6500 loaded and I wouldn't want to pull much more-stay within the truck's weight limits. I installed Sumosprings to reduce squat and firm up the rear a bit. Went over two passes going across the state last week and got 10+ mpg at 62 mph. Always use a WDH. We bought a Toy as our family has had a Highlander, Tacoma, Corolla, FourRunner, and Yaris, some pushing 200,000 with no issues.

Stay within your weight limits. Did I already say that?

I have an 07 and towed an 8500lb. 5er. Made 5 trips to fl at about 8miles to gallon. I air baged the rear and loved the truck. Just traded to camper for a motor home.

I have an 03 ( bought new) and just turned 198k. Brakes, tires, 3 sets of plugs, and it's due for a muffler. Hasn't missed a beat. BTW, my 5th Toyo. They have all been great!

I have a 2007 Tundra LTD 4wd, and have towed two trailers, one 8k and one 10k, both Holiday Ramblers. Towed the smaller 25' HR to Alaska, and over a 11,000 ft pass in CO. It passed most everything going up the grade.

When I got the heavier trailer, I put a Timbren suspension enhancement system in it to reduce the bounce in the rear end. Pulls both trailers well, with 10mpg on the smaller trailer, and 9mpg on the 34' HR. Have pulled the larger trailer from Texas to NE, and last year to Florida and back. No issues.

I've got a 2010 Crewmax 4x4 5.7 ltr with a 6"Procomp lift, I pull a 31' kz spree with a dry weight of 7300lbs. Has a WDH also, live in SW Okla. An just got back from SW Colorado, pulled great with no problems at all ran it in tow/haul the whole time, gas sucked but we knew it would an planned the budget for it, averaged between 7.5 - 8 mpg out an back. The only thing I'm going to change is I'm adding some Timbren Springs, I don't have much sag in back due to the WDH but more than I like, going with Timbren since they seem to be the only one that has spacers so you can match them to what ever size lift you have.

Your Tundra must have a lot more power than my brothers. Pulling a 10k load up a hill and passing others is something he dreams about!

I am going to jump in here with what I can offer. I just got a 2014 1794 Edition Tundra. I had 2007 GMC Denali AWD with a 6 ltr. While the GMC was marginally adequate towing my Toy Hauler it wasn't great. We are in a Motorhome now and the toy hauler is gone. However, I have other trailers. I was hooked up to my 7X14 enclose, loaded to about 5,000 lbs, and was able to compare the two trucks. The Tundra blows the Denali away. It is rated for 10,000 lbs and I wouldn't hesitate to do it. There is a hill near home where I can compare tow vehicles. If I can hit the top at 50 mph I consider it OK. With the Tundra and 5K I was at 70 mph at the middle of the hill and had to let off. The Tow Haul mode changes the shift points and power curve as well as compression braking. I have towed with a lot of different vehicles and this is the best by far. I don't have a handle on gas mileage yet but I am getting 16-17 around home and 19 hwy. with no trailer. I would estimate 10-12 loaded. Just a guess.

What color is your 1794? I was considering one, but can't find a brown one yet. My Tundra now has 80k on it, and so far so good. I pulled the 8k trailer over the 11k mountain in CO, not the 10k trailer. I haven't pulled the heavier trailer over any mountains yet. If you get tired of your 1794 if it is brown, let me know....

What did you get for mileage with the 6 Liter GMC. towing and solo?

1794 is Attitude Black. The brown is nice but side by side I liked the black. GMC did 12 MPG unloaded on a good day, 7-8 towing. I drove the Tundra 350 miles today, mostly NYS thruway and Mass pike. 18.1 avg for the trip. I love the truck.
