People who are knowledgeable about Allisons used in GM trucks do NOT recommend flushing. I'm not sure of all the reasons, but I never have, and never will, allow myself to be talked into having mine flushed. The recommended procedure by those who know is to drain the pan & replace the fluid to proper level, drive 20-30 miles, then drain again and refill and replace the external spin-on filter. I don't know if any of this applies to other transmissions. I think part of the problem is flushing stirs up debris that would normally stay put until the pan is removed. The pressure used during flushing may also dislodge the internal filter and you would not have any way of knowing that until problems arise.

We used a Wynn's machine. The difference was that it wasn't a flushing machine but more of a fluid replacement machine. The torque converter pushed out the old fluid while the machine just replaced the lost fluid at the same rate with clean fluid. Only way to do it. And I will do it again that way again and from now on.

These machines also require that the cooler lines have constant flow. The part that I really do not like about these types off flushing machines is, in many cases the guy doing the work has to sit there power braking to keep the heat built up to allow the thermostatic expansion valve to remain open to allow the cooler lines to flow. They work fine on vehicles that have constant flow but not so much with most temperature controlled transmissions today.

But did not replace the filter. If this is the case. You should have a great trans failure one day.
Easy trans care, drop pan, remove old filter, clean pan and magnet, install new filter, install new pan gasket, torque bolts, and then fill up with new fluid.

I dropped pan, changed filter (not gasket because mine is reusable), cleaned magnet, reinstalled, AND installed an external spin on filter. So, my filtering is a lot better than most motor oils.

True, it sucked trying to flush a 5R110. In fact, we didn't like to, and did NOT power brake it. We let it sit outside on the hot asphalt but that was about all we could do, other than drive it.

I had an Aisin transmission on my dodge 3500 CC the dealer said they flush all trannies but I stayed with him to insure he didnt flush it and at 105K it still acts like new.....DON"T FLUSH! But I still would change the filter, just my 2'cents.

No not really.
If a shop tells you we flush with a machine. Just leave and find a shop that knows what and how to do a trans service.

LOL, never tried a machine on a 5R110W. Since there is a drain plug I just drain, grossly over fill, run, drain, grossly over fill, drain and change external filter is equipped.

Shop I use says they do not flush. They do use a machine but it does not push fluid in past valves etc. and they do not call it a flush. Dunno what exactly it does.
Dropping the pan changes less than 50% of the fluid on many trannies. Newer trannies do not have much of a filter. Just a washable screen. I alternate between the machine swap of 100% fluid and dropping the pan every other time. Never a failure.
