Thanks guys. Yes we love the Sequoia. Ours is a '13 with the 5.7 engine, best car I have ever owned. And yes it pulls the camper and yes the mechanic says don't worry about it, that camper is fine behind the Sequoia, but when you pay that much for a family car, every time it goes up a hill and downshifts my heart skips a beat.

I think I'll go with either the Chevy 6.0 or 8.1 if I can find it, the Dodge Hemi or the Ford 6.2. Any of those look like they will work, now it's just findng one that appears to be well taken care of for the right price.

So we're looking at a used 42' NH 5er with the following ratings.
  • GVWR 26,500
  • Dry weight 20,300
  • Pin weight 4,250, I believe this is an empty pin weight so I suspect loaded it could reach as high as 6,500
So now I need to figure out what I could to pull it with.

The original owner pulled it with a 2008 F450 although I don't know its specification.

I know an HDT could pull it easily but the physical size and entry height is more than my DW wants to deal with and I'm still concerned loading our large dogs as they get older.

I'm scanning both Ford and Dodge specification but figuring what would be the best combination is not something that I normally do so any help or suggenstions would be great. I am leaning toward a 4x4 so I could handle a wider range of terrain.

BTW, the Ford King Cab looks nice

Our 05 450 hauls a 18000 5er very well. I have lots of capacity that it not being used but do not have the exact numbers here. I think you would be near the limit on the 05 but the newer ones have more capacity.
