Turning Too Sharp Scratches Car

I found myself turning too sharp backing up and the sides of the trailer hitch scratched my car. I'm towing a travel trailer with my Jeep Cherokee. Is there a device that would prevent this or prevent the damage other than better driving?

Yes, practice.
Don't feel bad, I am positive that most of us had an "oops" incident sometime, somewhere.

Do you have towing mirrors on that Cherokee?

If not, I would make it a priority to get some and then do a lot of practicing out in an open (and empty) parking lot using big weighted cardboard boxes as objects you want to navigate around. Something else that comes in handy is a pair of cheap FRS radios and a friend to be your look-out while you're doing the job for real!

My TV is very similar, they turn on a dime. Yes, some turns look really scary, especially U-turns over 2 lanes, it's like a cat tries to catch his tail. But so far scratches were avoided. May be, because of very short tow bar there is little chance that A-frame will hit the bumper angle, but I watch carefully, especially while backing off
