Weight & Length Rules?
What do you mean officer, weight & length rules.
Ever wonder why the transmission is in trouble in the rental truck.

You can't cure stupid, but a 2 x 4 will do a pretty good job of numbing it.

All the Uhaul equipment is so sketchy unless you happen to get something new. I rented a car trailer a few weeks ago and the springs on the surge brake were actually rusted to crumbs.

Got to give him credit, I would have never thought of doing it that way. Maybe he was just trying to save on tolls with less axles to pay for.

The story I got when the photo arrived in my e mail, was that the photo was taken in Cape Breton NS. East coast of Canada.
For my part; best guess here; I'm thinking, driver burnt the trans out of his own truck, and rented the van & trailer to avoid having to pay a tow truck, for his truck & another for the , 5th wheel.
JMHO. Because the truck would appear to be too small for the fiver in the first place.

We can tow anything because we can in Canada.
I hooked on to a truck and camper one day to help a man that was stuck at the store with a failed starter. Never charged him a penny for the 5 miles tow to friend's place close to home.
I towed him with my 4 cylinder Ranger. Needed to be on 4 x 4 not to spin the rear tires. Just told him to watch the brakes.
I owned one of the only 2 four cylinder 4 x 4 Ranger in the area and did more work with that unit then any trucks I owned since.

[QUOTE=caissiel;1967308]We can tow anything because we can in Canada.
You can do a lot of things , are the things you do safe ? Legal ?
B.C. outlawed towing with a chain years ago because of the number of accidents, when the towed vehicle ran into the back of the one towing, the driver of the vehicle being towed wasn't quick enough on the brakes or strong enough to operate the brakes without power assist.
I the case of the vehicle, in the photo , I doubt there was any attempt made to hook up the trailer brakes to the tow vehicle.
Would you move your 5er, if you knew the trailer brakes weren't working ?

The picture did not transfer well from my e mail, the person standing beside the 5er. has on pants with reflective yellow stripe , indicating an R.C.M.P. officer, so I don't think this is posed . But of course, anything is possible, on the other hand , nothing is beyond the realm of stupidity.
You only have to watch " Dumbest Stuff on Wheels " for about 2 mins. to confirm that.
