Anyone ever had a chain break on a spring bar?

I broke one yesterday coming out of a driveway.

I think the chain must have been defective.

I have never heard of a chain breaking. Did it break where it attaches to the bar or in the middle? Was it a deep exit/entrance to the driveway? I would say it was a bad link or an awful lot of force was on that side that it broke. Be Safe!!

average cheapo 5/16" chains are rated at over 2000lbs , I would bet you have bad welds on the chain you have ! Look at the links when chain is over worked the links get very long and narrow.
