Weight distribution hitch or not

I have a 2010 f 250 hd with the v10 my camper is a jayco white hawk 28dsbh empty weight 5900 7500 loaded and 650 empty tongue weight. I have a blue ox swaypro hitch but I think I don't have enough tongue weight with it

When Is Weight Distribution Needed?

You would likely benefit from a weight-distribution system if:

• Your trailer weight (GTW) is more than 50 percent of your vehicle's weight (GVWR)
• The rear of your tow vehicle sags when the trailer is hooked up
• You experience trailer sway
• Your tow vehicle headlights point upward
• You find it difficult to steer or stop your rig
• You want to tow to the highest capacity allowed by your vehicle's trailer hitch setup

Note: To use a weight-distributing system, your trailer hitch must be rated for use with weight distribution. Check the weight rating label on your hitch to make sure that a weight-distributing capacity is listed. If no rating is listed, a weight-distribution system cannot be used.

First, I would suggest you load trailer with your normal load and take it to the scales. Then you will know what you are dealing with. I don't think my duramax would notice the trailer back there.

Once you get weighed, then you will have an accurate picture of what you are dealing with.

You could just try it and see. Take it it for a test tow. I would be interested in the findings.

I was at the Airstream factory one time and saw single rear wheel delivery trucks hooked up to trailers w/o special hitches...they were straight hooked to the factory receiver. I also noticed all were 3/4 ton at the least with a few dually trucks. (Probably 8 - 10 total trucks) There were no 1/2 ton trucks. They were lined up with various sized trailers looking like they were ready to go. Airstream trailers are not light but are noted to trailer easy.

I have no sway or WD equipment on my rig.
15,000 miles in the last 2 years and it's rock solid.
My truck is a 2wd and sits perfectly level when fully loaded.
Trailer is 26.7' and just over 6k wet.

Go load up, give it a try and see how she rides.
